After 8 years restoring and renovating their historic 1912 rowhouse in Washington DC, our New Hampshire Ave clients realized they needed a little more room for their growing family. A three level back addition is underway to add an in-law suite in the basement, a family room and powder room on the main floor and a study and ensuite bath on the top floor. To allow the new construction to blend with the historic existing home, while maintaining it’s own identity, we chose to stick with classic materials applied in a refined, modern manner: plaster painted walls, black slate floor tiles, calacatta penny tiles. The ensuite bathroom brings a touch of Art Nouveau glamour in a modern setting.
